While mowin the grass yesterday i scattered a whole slue o' these critters.
I managed to gather these few up so they didn't become mower fodder.
I'll git a few meals in thier bellies then turn 'em loose.

For those o' you that don't know, they're neonate eastern garters.
They weren't more than an hour or two old yesterday when i found 'em.
The curious thing tho is that this is the 2nd dropping for this species this year.
This happened here last year also.
We're also gittin two hatches of some birds 'round here this year.
There is a nest on the back o' our grage that is rebuilt and reused every
year and there were two clutches o' robins hatched out in it this year.

I've often thot about gettin a wee neonate such as these and seein how big i can git it to.
However, thamnophis neonates can, and are very problematic feeders.
I jist collected some new born worms from my compost and hopefully one of these wee ones will eat.
If it does i may keep that one if i can, in a week er two, git it to take pinky parts also.

I think that in a controled environment i can git one o' these, ( a female), to reach 60' or better.
