After the price of the GPZ, I don't think I could the 4040!

True....If I recall the road map that Minelab laid out didn't mention another flagship detector

Is this the new site that has all the regular updates for the 3030??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I simply posted a link to let folks know that Minelab had updated their website. The new structure allows users to get to specific pages more quickly, it is easier to locate brochures and specific product manuals, it provides links to YouTube videos playlists that are matched to the product, and offers a foreign language translation page.

Nope sorry, nothing for the CTX 3030, but of course the GPZ 7000 is their baby!

GPZ 7000 Software Update

Better Ground Balancing = Finding More Gold!

Minelab is pleased to announce the first software update to our GPZ 7000 detector.

This free update incorporates a new Auto Ground Tracking Algorithm resulting in improved Auto Ground Balance functionality.

This GPZ software update improves the detector’s ability to track to the ground, such that more of the audio you hear is from gold nuggets. Resulting in -
•More stable threshold
• Higher sensitivity
• Less false ground signal interference
• Precision ground tracking
• More gold found

This update also maximises achievable detection depth in any given soil type by delivering improved tracking of the yellow ferrite when ground balancing. Updates can be done easily via Minelab’s XChange 2, or manually via a file transfer method when XChange 2 is not available (e.g. if using a Mac). There is no need to return your detector to a Minelab dealer.

For further details refer to the brochure here

You can access the software update directly, here

(New GPZ 7000 detectors, manufactured from October 2015 onwards, will have this new update already installed.)

The industry is so fixated on the lucrative gold hunting market, I'm surprise Minelab ever got around to developing the CTX in the first place.

Industries are always holding things back. They have no need to release the next new thing until the old tech has started to wain or has reached market saturation. Minelab probably had the CTX on the shelf for years before putting it into production.

Go to online store, CTX3030, and it says "the product no longer exists" (!!!)

Were you following an old link? The Minelab store only shows the CTX holiday bundle for the CTX detector, but it's still there.

Go to website, click online store lower left corner then ctx3030 under the guy standing with one -and you'll still see what I said.

I'm sure just a bad link they need to fix...

LOL, yep, "product no longer exists". I will say this, if they did discontinue it then it was the biggest secret in the industry! Considering that I JUST bought CTX #2 it would figure that they would be replacing it. Although, considering their past pricing strategies, I don't know if I could afford a new model of the CTX!

Is #2 for your partner or a spare? I envy you as you now can compare settings and performance between machines. I'm holding out for one out of warranty that I may be able to get cheap and fix myself.

I wonder if Minelab wondered why they weren't getting any store orders of the CTX for the holidays... Now instead of finishing the firmware upgrade we all have been waiting for they'll switch dev focus to a new $5k machine (or an ID'ing pinpointer or something...)

It's a replacement for #1. I can sell #1 for 100% of the original purchase price which almost pays for the brand new one. So I have years of use and now a new one with a brand new 3 year warranty for the cost difference of a cheap beginner detector.
