I am new at this since retirement and have been at it for a little over a year now. I have just posted my 2005 MXT finds in the Photogallery. It has been a great year for me with a lot of fun and enjoyment. I hope this year is as great.

Hi Mike:
Thank you for your input. The rings came from the local parks and school ball fields. Hope you have a great year.

Hi Richard:
Thank you for your input. I hope you have a great year in finds. I live in the upper part of Johnson City near the NC border,

Thanks Billy for the reply, I,m trying to get ideas of where to hunt cause all I find is clad change. Would you say the majority of these were found in athletic areas, like soccer and baseball fields?
Maby in picnic areas? Or maby in areas where people sun them selves
on blankets in the grass. Any tips would be appreciated.

Mike:
I hunt mostly in the public parks & recreation areas while school is going on (as I don't like to go around the schools while classes are going on) and hunt the soccer & baseball fields during the summer when school is out. I try to check where people spread their lawn chairs out in the grass along the banks or places where they may sit while games are being played. The concession stands are great if they are grassed. Some of the parks have covered shelters for people to gather and picnic with playgrounds. I always check and get permission before going on someones else's property. You can check with your local parks & recreation about metal detecting on public property and ask private land owners and get written permission if you can. I use a metal t-handle probe about 98% of the time, because I am lazzzzy and hate to dig. It is good to about 3-4 inches when the ground is soft and then I hunt the top of surface when the ground is hard. I hunt almost every day in the summer for 4-5 hours and in the winter when the weather is good.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like you dig alot of tabs in order to get the rings. I guess I should be hunting the athletic fields and side lines where the spectaters gather. Keep up the good work.
