Cheat sheet for the EXPLORER II ?

Good morning comrads. I just bought the EX II and i was wondering if their was a cheat sheet with VDI numbers i could reference with. Also any tips reconmendations will help. I hve been a Whites guy for many years so learning this new machine is going to be intresting. I have hunted 2 times already and have not been to successful yet . For parks what sensativity and gain should i set my explorer 2 at ?

First off I would personally learn the the machine in the Smart Screen.
Later you will clearly learn to pick up on the Cursor Flutter or Skips which are tell-tale of deeper coins etc. Even Nickels have their own place and movement. I never resort to VDI numbers.
My settings are: Manual Sens. any where from 23+ depending on the site, Fast On/Deep Off, Threshold barely Audible, Channel 11 preferable, Ferrous Tones (yes Ferrous for 12 years now), Gain 7, IM set at -12.
Those are the major settings but, there are others as well.

For you I would personally just stay in the Preset Coin program for a while until you learn the machine or you will be overwhelmed by the sounds opened up in -12 IM. Note: the preset Coin program is default Conductive Tones.

But, since you asked for VDI numbers here is a link that gives you VDI numbers.
VDI Reference Numbers

Whichever you choose be it Ferrous or Conductive with similar settings above stick with it and hunt and you will be on your way to success.
Hope I was of some help.

This post will probably get moved to the Explorer Classroom. :help:

I keep gain high, around like 8 and sensitivity as high as possible. Just starting i would set sensitivity at 26 auto, then once you feel more comfortable go manual.

The secret to an Explorer is going slow and learning the tones along with learning the movements of the cursor which will give you a pretty good idea of what you are after.
The net is loaded with info so time to do some googling. You certainly won't learn it overnight but after a while all will fall into place and a silver coin audio will stop you in your tracks...A good local mentor is also a plus for hands on help and cuts the time of the learning period...

Yea i have had it almost 1 month and i am understanding it more. I just figured out slow is the way to scan the ground. I can now see the target with my ears . Practice makes perfect right now i am digging all high tones to better understand the EX II. Love it.
