Cheap Silicone grease for your seals bought locally. :detecting:

I had already bought a $15 tube of silicone grease when I got my silicone seals. Today I was at Lowe's and needed some plumbers grease because I was out on my work truck and my new tube was at home. So I looked by the thread sealant and there it was - Plumbers Silicone grease. It used to be simply Plumbers grease but now it's Silicone. So I bought the nice sized container and went to fix a faucet. Upon using the grease it was a lot heavier bodied than the grease I had already bought. I like it much better. The best thing was it only cost $3.50

Thanks Kenny for the update on the plumbers grease. I didn't know it was now silicone
Being a plumber for the last 45 years I thought I had dug my last hole untill I got back in this great hobby.

I didn't know it was silicone either. I'm glad it is. Digging a hole for a treasure is better than digging a hole for turd herding.

I'm planning to take my ATP out for some fresh water action this weekend. Does Garrett recommend to use silicon grease on the battery compartment seal, or is this something you guys are doing on your own as an added measure of protection?

Thanks,
Brian

PS - I about fell out of my chair laughing on the "turd herding" comment

O-rings need lubricating. Silicone is a great lube for O-rings. Garrett pre lubes the O-rings with silicone. So use silicone on your O-rings.

Make sense. I'll get lube that battery compartment o-ring before taking taking her into the water, hopefully it's not a leaker.

Thanks and HH,
Brian
