Cheap rod assembly for a X-Terra

Bought a X-Terra 50 control box off of Ebay for a cheap price. To save money I modded an old Fisher S rod so the X-T control box could be mounted. I used a 3/4 inch PCV T pipe with a 1/2 inch PCV plug. The T cost 44 cents and the 1/2 plug 88 cents. The S rod assembly needs to be cut close to the handle area, which I could have grind ed closer, but played it safe.A round file will be needed to make the T and cap fit better.I'm still waiting for the Anderson 24 inch X-Terra non flex lower rod to arrive in the mail.Have two coils on the way a 9 inch concentric and the 10.5 inch DD both medium frequency.I plan on keeping the best performance coil and selling the other. HH Ron

That's a nifty inexpensive alternative rod mount Ron. Thanks for posting that up!
You're making me rethink a couple of things that I've been contemplating.

Elton, last week we had to clean the Museum lol can't say we don't do any work(some will disagree),cleaning the windows in the foyer.I would suggest to any one who metal detects volunteer at your local historical society, lots of goods leads and stories.Got a ways to go with the X-Terra,but should have it done by next week. Nice to talk to Rick today. Thanks Ron

Got the 10.5" DD 7.5 in today. The X-Terra 50 box was bought off of Ebay "as parts untested but probably works" and now with this coil will see if this was a bad or good deal. With the coil connected and powered up the X-T 50 would not respond to an air test nothing even in all metal.I'm not complaining a deal is a deal and sometimes used detectors are gambles.Never had an X-Terra box apart and now was going to fix this one or throw it in my parts bin. After taking the box apart found the blue coil wire unpinned and a simple repair made.Back together the XT 50 air tested.Still waiting for the 9 inch concentric coil and lower shaft. HH Ron.
