Cheap alternative for headphones on the AT-PRO

The headphone's that come with the AT are very poor for sound reproduction......

So instead of buying adapter's you have a couple of option's....

take the cord off the garrett's and but on a set of your preference Like I did with mine....I build my own headphone's because I have never found a pair I like.. well I like the Koss 60ohms series but they come in poor not very sturdy housing's so I put the speaker's i like in a durable housing I like...and the AT-Pro has so much audio nuance in pro mode it require's some true tone replication to get the most out of it....

the other option is go to radio Shack and get a inline female stereo jack and just cut the cord about 4 inches from the connector and put on the jack...

remember the AT-Pro as does the infinium only uses 2 wires... a negative (Black) and one channel (White) so hook the stereo jack up right left on white wire ground tab on black...

just some thought's to save money from buying a 50.00 adapter off E-PAY

Can anybody get a few clear close up shots of the special plug on the end of the cord from different angles ? .....I'd like to see what it looks like .....It would be nice to have this plug as an accessorie to put on other phones without having to destroy a set .... The plug itself can't be THAT much money .....Thanks , Jim

Uh ... what was that again ... turn left right here?

The 1/4" stereo headphone adapter jack has three connections.
Ground or Common
Left channel audio
Right channel audio

If the output of the AT PRO is mono ... just two wires ... (ground and hot) could you not hook the hot wire to both left and right pins of the adapter jack to feed the audio to both headphone channels?
Not all headphones have a Mono / Stereo switch like the Garrett headphones do.
Koss does not and you would only hear audio in one ear if you hooked the hot wire to just one channel or the other.

like most of the machine out there...Tesoro is the same way...Most of the time Garrett uses 3 wires because inside the machine left and right are combined so the headphone wires are soldered like true stereo but when plugged in left and right become the same channel.... on the infinium and at the plug is just 2 wires so they leave the red one loose they could solder the red one to the white one but the pin is to small for this...so they left it loose... on the other end the soldered it to the switch which does nothing... but the headphones are built first before they get the connector so they don't know if they are regular stereo plug or underwater plug till that's decided....

But in simplest terms the Garret is a Mono detector..R/L are the same...
