Chauffeur's License badge

I have come across a Licensed Chauffeur Metal badge for the State of North Carolina Badge number 951 expiring June 30,1939.
What exactly is this and is there an interest in this item. It is in very good condition.
Thanks
I can take a picture of it and upload/email it if needed.

Required license/badge for commercial drivers: taximen, chauffeurs, truckers, etc. Highest number reported for 1938-39 is 12,058. Your badge lists for $45 in Price Guide to American & Canadian Chauffeur Badges, 4th Edition (1994) by John J. Connors IV. If it's in good shape, with the original pin intact on the back, it's probably worth $50+ now.
Best of luck,
Buckram
