Charlie is right - treasure can be anywhere...

Charles Garrett always says treasure can be anywhere.

OK, it wasn't exactly big treasure, but a nice old coin.

I prefer older sites and usually only go to tot lots when my 9 year old niece is with me.

You expect to find new coins and, if you're lucky, jewelry at tot lots.

Imagine her surprise a few weeks ago when she dug up an indian under the chips at about 4-5 inches.

She was really excited and I was even more so. She had found a wheatie before but that was her first really old find.

After doing some research since then, I found out the tot lot was the site of a small farm property until the 1960's.

The Indian popped up right about where the farmhouse driveway would have been.

Sweet! I remember about 7 years back I was out with my GTA 300 and had only found 3 dimes and was just about disgusted with continuing my gridding . All of a sudden I got signals that went from quarter to dime to nickel to penny-all over the place. Imagine my shock when I brushed back the gravel in the tot lot and there was a $10 bill! I was so excited I ran to the car before I realized I hadn't even recovered the coins that were hidden under the bill.

Great find in the paper bill the coin was the bonus.

Don't kiss off tot lots and playgrounds. I have found some great stuff in those places. Look at my field test on the PP at the top of the page and the three Franklin halves I found under the swings in a playground. In my collection I have a religious pendant of a small angel standing in front of a large angel. The pendant is Gorham Sterling silver, the angels wings are 24 KT gold and there is a small diamond in the center. Foundin an old playground.
