What a sad day for the treasure hunting world! Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers! I just want to say thanks to Charles Garrett and all the fine folks at Garrett Metal detectors for the fine products they produce! You all are in my prayers and thoughts and may God be with you through this rough time.

Really sad to here this. From all I had heard and read about him he was a great person who also enjoyed this great hobby and also gave alot of insight in his books. Our prayers are with the family in this time of such a great loss.

I saw that on the Garret web Page.....My condolence go out to all family & friends

What a sad day! He was always such a very, altruistic generous man. Always donated prizes to events. Made the world a much safer place with his top notch security equipment. I named my youngest son son "Jarrett" who was born with autism with Charles in mind. My sincere condolences to his very lovely wife and adult children........His top of the line equipment he produced towards metal detecting has filled in a wonderful past time for both my family and myself in many parts of the world......Such a sad day.

He will be missed !!! I had the honor and privilege of meeting Dr. Garrett at the first International Treasure Hunt Competition that Garrett hosted in 1979. I participated with my Garrett Groundhog and my wife and I had a great time. He was a gentleman and always held the metal detector hobby and all of us in high esteem. A legend who really started our hobby and had much to do with where it is today. Thank you, Dr. Garrett.

He was a good man. A true treasure hunter......and a friend to the whole metal detecting community. He was always giving back to the community.

May he rest in peace !! May God be with his family and grant them the strength to endure the great loss of a Husband, father, and extended family member.

My respectful condolences are given to each of them.

How sad, Charles was a good man and will surely be missed. He brought a lot of joy to many of us in the hobby, and others i'm sure. I hope the Garrett tradition will live on and prosper.

Was so sorry to hear this. What a great person Charles Garrett was and what great support he gave to the detecting hobby. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family.

We have lost 3 legends so far this year, Jack Gifford (Tesoro), Jerry Tyndall (Nautilus) and now Charles.

Prayers to the Garrett family and employees. Here is a man who pioneered the pastime/sport/hobby of metal detecting thus, changing my life. My AT Pro is my "go to" machine for all conditions (except wet saltwater sand) and has, and will, brought many happy hunts. Garrett Corporation...please continue to maintain the corporate culture of excellent customer service and the development of even better metal detecting equipment. The solid foundation for any company are not mere dollar figures on a ledger, but the opinions and mind-sets of customers and employees; i.e., people. When that foundation is strong and maintained, the dollar figures increase themselves. God Bless.

Many thanks to the great things Charles Garrett did for all of us and his family in so many ways. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by many. God Bless

Sad to hear of his passing and prayers for his family and many friends. I would have liked to meet him just for a few minutes. I went to Garrett's website the other Friday to get information to send my At/Pro back and did that this morning. Couldn't help to notice in some of the photos that Mr. Garrett looked like he was ill. I was inspired by his Christian faith and loved reading his books.

So sad to hear of this, he contributed so much to the hobby.

My condolences to his family, loved ones and employees.
