Channels & frequency

The Explorer XS always seems to pick Channel 5 after Noise Cancel.
What is the difference between the other channels compared to channel 5?
Do all channels operate with the same number of frequencies, or do some channels use less?
Assuming the difference is the number of frequencies transmitted for each given channel,is there any way of knowing how many frequencies per channel, and what are the operating ranges of those frequencies?
I've had 2 trips out with the WOT, and having read that lower frequencies give more depth, while higher frequencies give more sensitivity, it seems it would be useful to know how many frequencies were in operation, + the operating frequency ranges..I can then select a channel best suited for the hunt location and conditions.
Is this info available, or readily accessible from Minelab?
Thanks i advance

the way I understand it, its always putting out the same frequencys it just does a slight phase shift or something with the different noise channels.. seems that 5 is its favorite though if hunting alone with no electrical interference around

its my belief that channel 5 is only putting out about 14 different frequencies, whilst channel 1 is using 20. Any thing along these lines been heard across the pond?
