Changing tones

I have a question about tones. I am trying one of my programs and instead of discing out the stuff I don't want to find, I am setting zero or 30 tones for them. I basically have it set for 30 tones from -95 to -6 and then accepting everything up to +94 and +95 which I also set the tones to 30. Reading about the wrap and such, should I go ahead and reject -95 and +94 and +95?

The ones you don't want are set to zero. You can also set the ferrous targets you don't want to a low number like 5. Then you will hear ferrous like a ticking Geiger counter. I like to know when I'm in iron. -95 to -6 set to 0

I would set coins to 1 tone and non coins to a second tone at least.

You can set +95 to zero, I do.

When the V doesn't know what it is it assigns it a +95

Rob expand on your post below just a little. I want mine to click in iron as well just not sure what VDIs I need to click.

I just depends on how much iron you want to hear. Setting it to 5 just makes the iron audio less tiring to the ear yet letting you know it is there. Most of the time I have it just eliminate rusty nails. I'm sure you have some of those.

Just wonder what VDI range you want to set to 5. +1 to +5 or all negative or just a Negative Range. My Rusty nails will hit +54 to +70 at times depending on ground moisture.

I use the 5 tone on the iron range to tell where the iron is and it sounds like a ticking sound. Some people like this while others don't. I like to know what's in the ground. The more information the better.

As an example Magic would reject the range of his soil for him it was -95 to -88. Then he accepted -87 to -6 and assigned these VDI a 5 tone. He could then hear the ferrous targets but the 5 tone made these tones more pleasant to the ear. Try it. The -6 to 0 he assigned a higher tone, he gave them a target tone.

Some people start having trouble with targets at a certain site, the problem could be iron but with it discriminated they don't hear it. It's just another tool, use and if you don't like it, don't use it. There is nothing Magic about it. :wiggle:

OK I took a different approach.I assigned everything from 22 to 53 (Pulltabs) a 5 tone. I assigned everything from 17 to 1 a 100 tone Small rings.
