i have a 1983 silver sabre that i managed to buy off ebay in mint condition. what i was wondering ,could the detector's frequency be changed from 12khz to 10.6khz like that of the more modern silver umax or lower and if so how would one go about it?hh see ya blowfly:detecting:

I would do that if I could, there is nothing better than a 12kHz Tesoro. They hit hard on coins and small jewelry & the sound of the 12kHz Tesoro's are so sweet. Give it a try for awhile I bet you'll love it. Steve.

I meant to say I wouldn't do that if I could. Sorry.

I wish you could I I could change mine since all I do is relic hunt, i would change my cibola which I think is like 17 to something like 2 1/2 if that were possible like the new whites vision. Lower Freq. Deeper you get

I don't think the less than 2 Khz difference would be noticeable enough to make the effort, besides taking the chance of messing things up.

I don't think that Lower Freq. Deeper you get is always the case. I have used lots of different Tesoro's and tried a White's that ran on a 6.9 kHz (which is lower than what the Tesoro's run on) and I didn't find anything deeper & it didn't find coins or jewelry any better either. Steve.

the new silver umax operates on10.6khz and i got to wondering,if the old silver sabre was tuned to 12khz,the same as the compadre, which is suposedly near the most perfect frequency of 12.5khz to operate in,why did tesoro lower the frequency on a more up to date detector.hh. blowfly
