when the battery pack after replacing with new batteries, how do I know if I have the pack contacts matching inside which way is up so the positive and negative contacks meet correctly. Thanks

Thanks, Got it. :) I also called the dealer and Russ told me that when you install the battery pack, the bottom of it will have a metal tab like one of the contacts on the battery, it goes to the LEFT when inserting the pack into the unit, that's if you have the shaft resting on your shoulder and your looking straight down into the empty unit. He is going to sagest putting this info into the manual, I marked mine with a sharpy incase I forget later, Gotta go dig! have a great day everyone

If you look closely at the bottom left and right of the battery compartment, there is a little + and - symbol stamped into the case to let you know for sure which way it goes in. The little contact is the + and the big one is the -, just like on a 9V battery.

I go by that little hole on the battery case and locate it up...but one of these days I'm going to stick on some sort of sticker that's easy to see or feel in the dark I tell myself. Common question by the way...maybe next run batch will have something distinguishable.

stick the holder in and then turn the unit on. If it comes on u got it right. That's what I do.
