changing batts on atp

I just tried to change batteries on my ATPro, with the new camlocks, and, son-of-a-gun, you can't get them out since the camlock blocks the compartment door. You have to disengage the pole from the control box, and then you can do the change.I was in a hurry, so didn't examine any other possibilities. Any suggestions? Hopefully I overlooked some stupidly simple method.

Just move the upper shaft out two notches from the mid shaft and there is plenty of clearance.

What he said.... UP UP UP
It miffed me for about 3 minutes too...lol
I could not believe Kellyco shipped the machine with fresh Energizer Batts...I was impressed...Usually you get some junk Generic batts.

HH,

On my AT Pro I remove the battery door from the front of the control box the battery tray with 4 AA batteries comes right out and goes right back in with the detector put together with no problems. My AT Pro is a new model with the cam locks on the rods :stars::confused::wacko:

[size=large]first let me say i bought my ATP from Big Boys and they shipped straight from Garrett w/ energizer batteries. i don't think it where you buy it from. i think Garrett has them already installed.
next. if my hunting buddy wasn't there i don't know if i'd figured out how to change batteries w/o frustration. he already went through it with his ATP. so it
was like jerry-wi said. just gotta be careful or they will drop out onto the ground, floor or hard surface and break the holder. it is here-by recommended to purchase a spare holder just in case.
todays hunt was a blast drizzeled all day and not one worry about getting the machine wet. it was enjoyable.

When first assembling the AT Series with the new cam locks, you should attach the control arm cuff & stand assembly into the closest lower rod setting those metal buttons to lock on the very first set of holes on the rod. This keeps the cam locks at a good distance from the battery cover, so it can be easily rotated and removed.....

If you install those metal buttons into the second set of holes, you will block the battery pack cover.

Hope this helps. :)
