Has anybody had a whites mxt and switched to the minelab explorer se ? And if so how did like the switch ?

I had, well I still have, a MXT and hunted with it for three years. Found good stuff with it. Switched to an old explorer XS last year
and like everybody else says, if you want ot find silver coins the explorer is THE machine to use. Yes, it's a little harder to really learn the explorer
compared to the turn on and go mxt, but the explorers are just amazing at finding deep coins in iron and junk.
I will use my MXT still for relic hunting and it hits nickels hard. Tough to find nickels with the explorer. At least for me, in trashy areas.
Hope this helps.

Ive used the MXT and DFX before switching to theSE. Sometimes you just find a machine made for you. I took the time to learn all three before changing. Each have their advantage.. but i still think the SE is the best all round of the three. I do a lot of detecting in various states when we travel.

I've hunted with a Whites XLT-e for 7 years. I got a used SE not long ago and have spent a lot of time trying to educate myself on it by reading forums and books, talking to Explorer users and watching videos (www.mlotv.com for some good educational videos). With all the time I've spent with the XLT I got better and better and understanding what it was telling me about the target. With that background I have some understanding about what the SE is trying to tell me, except there is more to tell. It's kind of like going from listening to a music CD on a portable CD player to listening to the same CD while sitting in the middle of an expensive "surround sound" system. There's more for me to process, but it isn't all that difficult. I'm not getting all the nuances yet, but I have been making some finds that I know I would never have made with my XLT. I'm not giving up the XLT because I believer there are instances where it will serve me better, but most of my hunting will be done with the SE. Good hunting.
