The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.

Change at White's for walk-ins

Hi,

Just a heads-up...Today I took my detector in to White's in Sweet Home, as I have done with 3 different detectors over the past 10 years. While I got the usual friendly greeting, I was dismayed to learn that they're under new management and one of the changes is that walk-in service is no longer free.

I still like the service and the people up there are great. They still dropped everything to help me while I waited...but now it costs $60 minimum, so for those who are used to the free service, it is now just another one of those things that made some time in the past "the good old days."

You knew free service couldn't last forever, so to White's I say, "thank you for all those other times, and thanks for continuing to be there for us."

Corporations that don't adapt , disappear , and White's has been around for a long time.
I suspect they are just being forced to adapt to all of the loyal users that have defected to the new Racer detectors
 
Along with the change in management there service has gone to pot. I sent a used DFX out for service in Feb, was told the 950 was bad. I said it acts the same with all 3 coils and was told to ship them as they were all bad. I said NO there has to be something wrong with the board.. No ship the coils so I can make sure they are bad. So no phone call till it was done 3 weeks later. Was charged for the 950 and the $60 service fee and of course I paid the return shipping.. Guess what, still not fixed, no change in the operation. After verifying against a known good machine and multiple videos to verify not EMI issue I tried calling them to find out what to do.. Talked to the Tech and he said he would have his boss call me.. week later I called again and was told someone would call me.. 3 day later I called again.. Finally got hold of Connie and she sent me a shipping label, I sent her an email with links to all the video.. So the unit arrived last Friday morning and yesterday I sent her an email to remind her..

Here's mails.. I don't know about you guys but when I spend $200 to have something fixed and wait almost a month I do not expect to wait when it is sent back.. I known when a car came back to the shop cause it did not get fixed or something was not done correctly it was taken care of First as it was our mistake..

Hi Doug, They are here hopefully I will get them checked in today/tomorrow but we are probably looking at about 2 weeks to get them repaired, I am going to try to get them pushed through faster.
I will let you know when they are repaired and on their way back.

Does not seem like the Customer service every one raves about on all the forums including yours.. One would expect a comeback to go to the front of the line.. not wait 2 weeks. Yes, I know it is not a car, and I will live without it but it is the principle of the matter and the reputation Whites has not really lived up to.. at least in my case. Please remember this was shipped to you for the same issue in the begging of Feb.. I spent $200 and it was still not fixed.

I would NOT recommenced Sweet Home for repairs, if I could do it over, I would have sent it to the East Coast Service center in Virginia.
 
Unfortunately, like bad diggers, a few ruined it for everyone.

People were buying used non-working, basket cases for $5.00 -$20.00 at yard sales, getting them fixed for free, and then selling them on E-bay for $100. +.

:cool: Tesoro has recently started to strictly enforce the "lifetime warranty to the ORIGINAL OWNER policy"....it now costs $50.00 minimum. I have noticed that used Tesoro prices are going down now.
The "nothing is for free" reality lives on..........:detecting::goodnight:
 
Well i think the American made detectors have had a lock on the market for a long time and their service has been why, plus a good product. But times change. For one the only good Web site Home Page is Garrett's. They all need to have a super web site i mean full page knock you eye ball out pic of each detector and acc they sell. Now you have more and more competition from over sea's. More with the times. Just look at the Deus not only wireless its Great Detector The new Go Pro from mine lab their, your looking at the future of the E Trac in a unite build like the Pro Go. Wireless Headphone's should of been out long ago. Who wants a dam cord hanging form your head all the time. Light weight. Well its coming but from over sea's. New Racer price can't beat it. Makro detectors so on. Just saying

:cool: I totally agree that a great website means everything these days in this era of computers. White's has a good website too. The other companies who desperately need to update their websites are, .....Tesoro, Fisher, Bounty Hunter, and Teknetics, The Tesoro and Bounty Hunter sites are the worst. They haven't changed in years (maybe decades ). These metal detector companies need to understand that we as hobbyists need these sites to fully enjoy our hobby. There is more to this than just the hunt. There's the chat rooms, the accessories, the videos, the new detectors, and a whole lot of other stuff....I am pretty" put out" with Tesoro right now. I still have at least one of their machines but dealing with the company is like living in death valley...no signs of life. JMHO :cool:
