Chains are hard to find

Never really paid attention to them.. I think it was Tabdog showing that his detector would find a chain..Again, no attention. This morning ,a "gold diamond ring" pops up.No markings inside, so I don't think it is a real one.....BUT nice to find....Made up for the cold and that extra cup of coffee. Then I see a 24 inch thin rope type chain about three feet away.from the ring site..Didn't even realize it was metal until I picked it up..Vaquero did not register it..I told the machine, "You are supposed to find gold, and you can't even find a silly chain"..At that moment, The V gave me the Raspberry, and sounded off on a surface find ,1997 ten dollar, 1/4 oz coin in a pendant holder Nailed it at a good ten inches.. Was coming up to miss a stick.. I left...Wasn't pushing my luck with the cold, coffee, and 70 year old kidneys..I thanked the detector, and have to send Dave an e mail, thanking him for the excellent job of training that machine,,,,cordially NAD..That was seven hours ago, and I am still in orbit..Come on over, I'll take you for a spin around the Solar System......

SO, as I get it, you found a ten dollar gold pendant on a chain? Well, aint that nice!
The fact that it missed the chain is no surprise, they ARE hard to detect. I test all my detectors on many types of chain and they all come up short. It don't matter the make or model, they all have a hard time of it.

Dont worry about it, it's normal. The gold pendant - well, that aint, so take heart. Way to go!!

Chain is broken..that is why I found the coin. I was kidding around with Dave, who likes to find jewelry, and is good at it..Told him to watch his hind end, that I was going to give him a run for his money in finding rings. I think the Vaquero, wide scan coil ,and soccer fields are going to be an interesting combination. Really prefer to go for old coins,,artifacts but, I am hyped on rings and things,.The chain gets traded against another chain tomorrow, pendant gets cleaned, and the lovely lady who lets me go hunting ,gets another gold trinket to wear.. Cordially Nad

Good luck in the soccer fields they are loaded, at least around here they are you should have plenty of targets to keep you busy.

If its one of those really fine gold chains like the women wear with a crucifix, then no doubt it won't see it. But a ladies gold chain bracelet shouldn't be a problem. I carry with me a ladies thin gold ring and a girls gold chain bracelet that has small duck charms on it. I toss them on the ground and look at the meter to refresh my memory. Seven months I dug a foil type signal that was close to the surface. What I detected was an Italian chilli pepper gold pendant, but it was on a beautiful twisted rope style chain, all 14k. Lady in jewelry store said chain alone is $900 - $1100.

Hay Nad,

Thay will find gold.

I went out and checked.

Yup. That's just what they do alright.

Happy Hunting,

Went to my friendly coin shop.Diamond ring is real.14K,good sized stone ,but has a chip out of it. The chain was 26 inches 14K, and sold for 43 dollars. An ear ring found last month was 14K, diamonds not real.,Gold filled ring, not of any value.Another small gold colored ring wasn't gold..If I wanted to sell the coin and holder, would have gotten "spot" and $10.00( latter for holder)..Have been out around 27/28 hours, $43 and 25,(coins,clad, discolored, corroded,or otherwise) puts me a bit above the dollar an hour mark..In fact, pretty close to 1960 hourly wages before taxes..Cordially Nad

Hay, ain't nothin wrong with that.

I'd like to find a nice diamond some day.

1/5th ct pare shaped is the biggest so far.

I am saving my gold right now.

Maybe it will go back up.

Then I'll send it to the refinery.

That's the same place jewelers

send their scrap bench gold.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog
