I have a request from any Excal owner that would be interested in helping me. I was given my brothers Excal to use. But I am use to using my garrett ace 250 and I really and unsure of the Excal. I would like to get some pointers from someone who Owns one that can help me understand the unit. I could go out and figure it out but I would rather have someone explain settings and the like so can see the real results. In return I will share a place that would provide a good return for the efforts. I live in Orlando and travel alot over to Tampa bay. So if there are any Excal owners in either of these places Please drop me a line.
I thank you in advance....seamonster777

Even if someone stood by you and set the machine up you would not have instant success. Sorry about that maybe you would if the coil went across a good target. My point is learn those different sounds. Make yourself a test garden or lay some coins and a piece of gold and silver jewelery on the ground and practice swinging the coil over them along with a pull-tab and a screw cap. Set Disc. on 0 set sens. at 1 o'clock turn machine on and adjust threshold until you hear a low hum then set the volume where you can hear the different targets. That should get you started. When you get to the beach turn the volume up as loud as you can stand it. Get a good scoop and you will do fine. No quick fix with the Excall just hunt with it the good stuff will come. You should be ready for Spring Break. I may see you there around the last of March. Good Luck and HH.:minelab:

When I first got my Excal II 1000, I did not like the sounds it made. But after using it for a couple of months, I wouldn't trade it for any other water machine. I use mine in disc and dig up all tones, low, med and high....Have found some very nice gold rings, silver coins and silver rings, excellent machine, just use it and get used to it. I thought about selling it first time I used it, glad I kept it. HH

when i first started using the excal i thought....."theres no way im ever gonna get used to the tones" but now i love it!!! did not take long!
