Cellar Hole Tips..

When hunting cellar holes especially those right along the road, I always check from the road to the front of the cellar hole first. Many times there is a line of bushes barely decerned or lilac bushes, sometimes even a row of trees equally spaced. I have found many old coins in and around those bushes and trees.
Then, I try the well hole area and my imagined path from the well hole to the house.
Look for a stone fence around the house and also any creek bed close by and check that too. Actually found coins in a small stream bed a few inches deep.
Look for any sign of an old road leading away from the house and check along it. I have found coins in those roads and actually located other cellar holes by following these roads a ways.
Course then I do every where else. <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
