Large Cent Site Makes a Comeback!
Well Ive been away from hunting, getting therapy on my neck; I figured out a way with a different detector to detach the housing, put that in a small camera bag, with strap around my neck. Purchased on line a pair of prism glasses. These let you walk and look straight ahead while seeing your feet, or waist. Really I can see my machine, change modes, pinpoint without bending my neck And the shaft and coil are almost weightless now. I only use on fairly level terrains. The prolonged neck flexion is what caused the problem, so do take breaks and stretch. I will refer you to photo if you email.
Am using a different machine now, but thought you would want to hear further the exploits at that site, which I am hunting with permission and on private land. Half the coins pictured I got with the Garrett.I had been there several times with no luck.
Yesterday, went back to the approximate same spot I got the large cents (See my early June entries) and got another one. Then I went to the area of the Civil War token (see my second June entry), and got a different one, It has like a small Liberty head on one side, with 13 stars around the top, and on the other, in a wreath, ONE CENT, but in small print above that it says NOT. It is date 1863. I thought darn, play money. It is no toy though. It is called according to my research, a "not one cent" coin. It was issued during the civil war as a protest statement about the country
