Sunday I went back to the area I've been working - this time across the road from where I found the 1799 British farthing lasr week. There are two cellar holes side by side and a small stone Dam-like construction.
I turned my explorer on and set it down and IMMEDIATELY got a signal. It was a small flat button - good sign! Ten feet later I pulled up a toasted copper. Could this be an "unhit" site? Well, you know how it is - took me 20 min to find my next good signal. This was an 1887 IH right near the edge of a cellar hole. I'm sure this place has been hit but not well. Like I said in my last post - this area is on fairly main road and the cellar holes are close to the road. There is even a trail/running path that goes right between the two cellar holes (a couple people jogged past while I was there).
The pocket watch was deep around 8 inches. It's silver plated brass and marked "QUARTIER AU KOCLE" on the face.
At one point I decided to scan the actual footpath and got a "SWEET" signal right in the middle of the path. My FIRST one reale - 1773 from about 6 inches! I was stoked!!
I've found 1/2 reales over the years and a 2 reale but this was my first "one" reale.
My total for about 2 & 1/2 hours:
one reale 1773, Merc 1940, IH 1887, wheat 1947, copper, 2 flat buttons and a small round button (military?), pocket watch, also what looks like a copper coin that has been indented - it's the size of a 1/2 cent but I can't make out any features.
Thanks for sharing. Bruce
