Cell phone gold

Just courious. I don't have a gold sample for testing and was wondering if a small piece of a old cell phone circuit board that has gold on it be enough to play with on a xtera 70 or 705 .

I guessing it isn't big enough but wondering if anyone has tried it.

You can get small nuggets on the bay for just a few bucks.

Well I tore apart an old cell phone I had and stripped everything that looked like gold ( not the screw mounts. And played with the pieces I had and was really surprised on how small the x70 would go with the 5x10 in prospecting mode . The smallest piece I had was the size of a hole that a wire would go threw. I played around with increasing sensitive and obviously the smaller the less depth it had but bigger the gold coating the louder it will be. So now I think I feel more confident on finding gold jewelry on the beach here ( fresh water.
I share wish I would have a chance to detect out in Arizona but I think that will have to go into the never bucket list , lol so now every time I get a chance to rip an old cell phone I'm gonna ripe it apart just to play with the gold coating on he boards.

With the 9" concentric MF coil yo will need to dig anything that bounces iron/nonferrous to get the small gold jewelry. If it bounces -2 to +4 for instance DIG!

Tom, I tried the 5 X 10 HF yesterday for the first time on actual targets at home and it reminded me (again) why I like hunting at high frequencies especially at the beach. The ID numbers on gold are so stable. No bouncing, no negatives to make you question what is under the coil. It reminded me of the difference between the F19 and F5 or Omega on target ID.
