CC, semi key, and IH three......

Chris(SoCenWI)

They are doing more road construction a couple of blocks over and today I kept swinging until I found enough to make a rhyme.

When I first arrived saw a couple of other detectorists. We chatted a bit and found we knew some people in common. They had found an IH and a few wheats. Not sure if any of it rhymed.

One of the wheaties is an 11-D, other is a 1909 in real nice shape.

First coin came from under a limestone carraige step. 1875 CC above bow dime. Second one of these I've found in a couple of block area. Think I eyeballed the first.

Nice coins Chris !
Your silvers are pretty well how most of mine look when I dig 'em...
I've seen pictures of silvers from other areas that come out bright, like they've been polished.

Nice, Chris!

How'd you manage one of those as an eyeball find?

P.S. I bought plane tickets last night and I'll be Edgerton July 2-11 and would love to hunt with you if it works out. I'll be completely free the mornings of the workweek M-F (GF works 'til 1:00) but, if that doesn't work for you, I'm sure we can work something out if you want. In the mornings, I'll be hitting the old racetrack again with the SE--hit it with the Sov last summer--and by the train station but not sure where else to try. Might try where the old church cum school was again that I'd tracked down from talking to the nice lady in the old station. I didnt find anything particularly interesting at any of the places I hit but I do have a better percentage with the SE already than I did with the Sov, so hopefully this time. (One of my main goals at this point is to find my first Barber.)

Rich,

Four five years ago and four five blocks from where I was today..... I was detecting and saw a dime on the ground about the same time my coil went over it. Was sure it was clad and almost into my apron before looking closer and seeing it was seated. I'm pretty sure that one was the 1875 CC. That was the only year they put the mint mark above the bow. It might have been a different year CC. Maybe I'll go and dig out the collection and see. They had redone the road and terraces a couple of years earlier so I'm guessing that is why this one was on top.

Yes, would love to meet you up in Edgerton. I've hit a few places up there with minimal success. Lots or pretty homesites.

Shoot me a PM with contact info. I'm not sure I'll be around during that time but we will see.

Chris

Snowy,

The soil around here is usually very kind to coins. Get a lot of old coppers that clean up nicely with a beautiful patina. Road construction finds can be another story. The dime was right next to an old limestone stepping stone. I'm not sure if there was some chemical reaction going on. It's only on one half of the obverse. Perhaps will baking soda this one.

Congrats on that Seated Dime! Those CC's are tough to find. Those Pennies look to be in great shape. Hope you get back over there and find more Oldies to post. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.:super:
