Be advised against agreeing to make payment for an item by using the PayPal gift option. Sales that use the gift option are not protected under PayPal's rules. Trying to save a few dollars may cost you far more money!

Paypal also gets pretty upset when making a gift payment, when it's a Payment for purchased, you just need to add the PayPal fee and do a normal payment, I have already been warned

I've done this several times with senior members and its not ever been a problem! I even surprised one member by sending him the detector before he got his tax return back. I've actually done that twice.
One thing I do though when buying something and using the gift option, I don't put a note in it about buy a detector, just mark it as Gift, or money owed. The purchase is really an option when buying off an auction, a web store or something like that.
