Out for the third time on land have not made it to water, waiting on waterproof headphone. Outside temp 91 starting to enjoy the day went to dig my third target it was deep place my Ferrari (CTX 3030) to my side on the ground. I then look over and seen that the coil was square with ground but the contral housing was leaning toward me.I thought maybe i didn't clip the cam-lock nope was lock.Further investigation the coil coupling was loose and then further looking at it. It's just glued but there is as small hole on the coupling that you might think Minelab would put some kind of plastic rivet with the glue my hunting bud's set-up the same way little hole but just glue. May-be I got monday morning guy(Ha,Ha) oh well I'll talk to my dealer and then Minelab to see what I do next.I don't think the current set up is going last when I start water hunting.
I Love My CTX and HATE THAT IT'S SICK! Hope this helps minelab idea a possible issue .My 17yr old dives a Porsche and it's not perfect but really biult to perfection.

Thanks Shawn.

Wow! That's not too good. I hope this isn't going to be a common problem. Best of luck with the repair.

Well... I told him a little goop and it will be better than new....

It will be A highly modified ATTACK CTX 3030......but in the meantime i told him to get back to swinging and offered My duck tape....

I gave Shawn The sign of the Cross .....Told him not to put know vodoo... ebby jeeby ...on my CTX....:poke:

We had Fun and it was so hot his Ctx was melting....

That isolator coming loose (off) doesn't sound too nifty.-----Let us know what Minelab does about it for you shawn.----Sure hope it isn't going to be a regular occurring problem.

Ok just got off the phone with Minelab America !They replied with fix it with gorilla glue it's the same issue they have with new excaliburs. They said that it's also the first CTX one they herd of. I said a 2500.00 dollar machine should not have a answer G-glue.They also said they could send a new rod and not to drill out shaft to put a plastic rivet .I will request new one though my dealer.O well I think with this luck I'm off to play the LOTTERY!(Ha Ha) Thanks guys for the support.

What exactly did you want them to say? I'm sure they would rather this not happen at tall but they offered a short term solution and to replace it with a new one. There is nothing else really they can do.....

Well I 'm sorry if I spoke out of some peoples terms. I guess from serving 21 yr defending this county and now hold a the job as a public servant my response might have been,( O sorry let use send you a new rod in the mean time try this to we get your new one to you) not glue it !Then when the statement of 2500.00 machine was made then the offer of replacement was made.I was asked to give a up date on the out come so did SORRY!Anyway it's all good. I was trying to let people be aware that this could happen . Like I said sorry if I hurt damage contral. I love my machine and it's not going anywhere . Thanks Again and happy hunting .
Shawn .

You didn't do like I caught myself doing today did you?
I was using the detector to balance while digging in the water.
I could see that maybe causing what happened on yours.

LOL. I usually set mine in the water while I take two scoops (I usually come up empty on both) then I grab the detector and rescan for the target (it's usually still sitting in the same place at the same depth or a little deeper now.) So, I repeat the above again and again and again until I recover what ever piece of aluminum my detector has me chasing.

I have a Sunspot scoop so it's not the scoop. It's the user. :poke:

BTW, on that lower shaft part that came lose, I would suggest using some marine glue that wouldn't be affected by water. I think if you do that you will never know it ever came lose.

No never been in the water with it .Third time out on land I have built my own custom shovels and scoops (stainless) for people to work smarter not harder in retrieving targets some people say I baby my machines I have 13 machines and they all look like a 9 out of 10 . Anyway Brian at Minelab got my e-mail with photo and said if I can't get it back together he will be glad to send a new one .That consern is all I ask thanks Brain at Minelab America I'll let you know.

THANKS Minelab.

Okay let's start again with sorry for all the stupidness of today .A very ,very, sorry to this forum. This place I thought was to help inform and teach .Not to try to jab quotes as Mr G-13 but to answer his question with this;what does this have to do with anything?Answer; The same reason the sky is blue and puppets have strings. INTEGRITY and PRIDE! Best wishes G-13 lots of LOVE happy hunting and thank for all your Help!
And good nite to all.
Shawn

I would have told them they were going to send me one overnight shipping. There is no excuse for the poor quality on one of the most expensive machines on the market, and no excuse for people to defend ML when they are clearly at fault. No jerry-rig glue fix is acceptable...they should be ashamed for even suggesting it. Their response should have been..."We are very sorry, we will overnight you a replacement part, and throw in a hat or T-shirt for your troubles." It's a $2400 machine for gawd sakes, not a $100 Wally World machine!! I would not bother with the dealer, it is not their fault...deal straight with ML. Thanks for the update, that should be what this forum is for...honest info, good AND bad...not just the good.

Shawn, you are exactly right. Forums are for helping people by asking questions and making inquiries and getting answers and support. I think some people lose sight of this. Good luck with your detector and screw the glue. :super:
