Castle hunt...

Thanks for posting Mike. Looks like you're day turned out quite well! Congrats on the finds. And kudo's for helping the "tourists" get a better understanding of your local history. Folks like you are an asset to our hobby. I wish I knew more about the silver coins of that era to help you identify it! However, I'll keep searching the net for something that resembles it and let you know if I come up with something. You keep us posted as well. Thanks again. HH Randy

First off I mean no disrespect to anyone on this site but Mike your posts are truly my favorite. I was stationed in Germany for 18 months in Shwienfurt(spelling?). We went to castle sites when ever we had time off. Some were guided, some were not. Was younger then and had no thoughts of metal detecting. Cant imagine what it would be like to have permission to hunt one. We are living vicariuosly thru you when viewing your posts. Thanks very much, Joe in Delaware.

Being very much into crossbows, I marvel at your finds. The stuff that dreams are made of.

The guys that hunt the east coast colonies drive me crazy with their finds, but they got nuthin' on you Mike.

Thanks Joe! I worked in Schweinfurt for 18 months as well. I found Roman coins just outside the gate in the farm fields. HH, Mike
