But, I have to agree because it sure looks like someone was trying out a stamp or seal seeing how there is no uniformity to the design.
I d@mn sure wouldn't throw it away, it's a cool find.

the end of something. Perhaps an ornamental end had been placed on one end of a cast iron rod. That end was placed agains the flat piece of lead while one was hammered to the other side.

Is someone was testing stamps you would think they would not overlap.
