Hauled some scrap in to sell. Had 2 coffee cans filled with junk found with the Infinium. One can, pieces of copper, other brass. Got $8.15 for the 2 of them. Well it isn't like selling a piece of gold, but $ is $. Small tip. We all find shotgun/rifle brass. But if you know a place where people sight in their guns, well pick them up it pays. Keep all them stinkers (lead) They pay also.
Keeps things interesting till that gold/silver shows up.

Most any of the scrap metal places buy lead. How much will depend on the type..
One place online is quoting .55 cents a pound for lead, .20 cents a pound for wheel weights,
.24 cents a pound for car batteries.. Will vary to place and location..
I scrap a lot of coils and copper.. I sold some a while back after the big copper price drop
a couple of months or so ago.. I still ended up getting $167.00 for what I sold them, which wasn't
all that much compared to some trips I make, so it's worth the effort.
The going current rate for clean coils is about $1.35 per lb or so, and copper scrap about $2.30-$2.40
per lb or so.. Needless to say, when I have to buy new copper tubing or wire, it's not cheap these days.

I always keep buckets of sorted scrap that I find. About once a year I take it to the local scrap yard. Helps pay for the toys!!

Congrats , your right $ is $ !!!!!

Very cool! Yep, we are surface miners...I keep all copper brass and lead..I remember places outside of town where people have been shooting into a bank siting in their guns for years...have often thought about going on a lead and brass mining spree..some guy bought my coffee can of lead last year at our garage sale, he casts his own sinkers and jigs...think I got 10 bucks for it.. All those Hotwheel cars bring a quarter, and I generally have a fleet of 20 or so, and even the junk jewelry sells for a dime to a Q...My Wife also puts out all the silver jewelry I find and gets anywhere from 5-10 bucks per ring..one year a few back, some lady bought all my gold rings at spot...she was a gold bug, so yes, it all helps add up.
Mud.

I need to get all the lead weights I found at the river and take them to my pastor. He goes fishing a lot and I'd rather give them to him than sell them. I was surprised at the weight of some of those sinkers and surmised they must be fishing for some huge catfish.

I haven't been fishing in so long, I forgot how to set the hook. I bought a fishing license for almost 20 years in a row and never found time to go fishing, but miss the fresh fish I used to catch. Now I'm happy just to do a little dirt fishing once in a while.

I've never seen much value in clinging to all the metal trash I collect. Ive never found all that much, even when I was detecting everyday. However, I did save it because thats what detectorists do.

Did it have the potential to be better than nothing? Sure.
But in the end - I just chucked it all and moved.

I'll probably start saving it again...

Around here the parks maintenance people leave a lot of the old brass sprinkler heads loose and buried when they change to plastic. I've found a sizable amount of brass along with copper and lead to turn in to the scrap yard. It will probably be a few months before I sell it but will post the results here.
