Carbon Fiber Travel or Straight Shaft for Xtreme Sand Scoop?

Sand Sifter

Member
It’s time that I upgrade my old 6” round sand scoop and after researching a variety of available scoops, I’ve decided to go with the Xtreme SS Surf Master Plus.

The scoop comes with a carbon fiber shaft, in either a 1-piece straight shaft, or a 2-piece shaft for travel.

I really like the idea of having a travel shaft and being able to break the scoop down into a smaller, more manageable size. But coming from using a scoop with a straight shaft, I’m just wondering about the strength of the travel shaft after coupling 2 smaller shafts together.

Anyone have experience with Xtreme’s carbon fiber travel shafts?

Will the 2-piece travel shaft be able to offer the same strength as the straight shaft, i.e., do I have anything to worry about or will I have to take it easier than if using a straight shaft when digging in dry & wet sand?

If you can afford it, buy both. I have the one and three piece shafts and have no problems with either.
Note: If you are offered either right or left handed travel shaft get the one for the hand you dig with.
Or bring some Gorilla tape when you travel to keep the shaft from loosening up from the digging motion.
