Cape Cod Vacation

New member
I grew up on the Cape for 25 years. Unfortunately I wasn't into detecting at the time, but I go once or twice a year to visit my mom. Everyone is right about the National Seashore, but there are so many other beaches to hit, it's not a big deal. I always find a few rings when I visit. Don't forget about fresh water there, as many times it's passes up for salt. Give me a PM, I could give you suggestions depending on where you stay on the Cape. I will be there from July 28th to August 9th. Des in Buffalo.

So you do or you don't seek permission from state park rangers when hitting state beaches there?

Don't bother seeking permission on the Cape for the National Sea Shore, it is absolutely not allowed, and they will take everything if they catch you. Des

Right, but my question wasn't about national/federal level beaches. My question was about state run beaches there. You say in your post that you hit state beaches, there, and that it's "not a big deal". So I asked you if you "check in" or "seek permission" when hitting those state beaches.

Where exactly is nat shore?? is sandy neck beach part of it??

There are town run beaches, Dennis, Yarmouth, Orleans, not state run beaches. All of them are fine to detect, but you need a beach sticker to park there unless you walk or ride a bike. The National Seashore starts in Eastham, and runs through Wellfleet and parts of Truro. There is a large sign on Route 6 at the start. Route 6 is the main road up to Provincetown. Race Point Beach is in P-town and is not National Seashore. Sandy Neck is not part of the National Seashore. Go to Google maps for more info. Also, only trying to help Tom. Des in Buffalo.
