Cape Cod Natonal Shores

Certain areas in Cape Cod are cared for by the Cape National Shores. Metal detecting is strictly prohibited. Does anyone know of any specifics on smaller town beaches or private beach regulations? Cape Cod Mass.

Rule number one for me. Its better to beg for forgiveness then to ask for permission. Applied only to public land in metal detecting. If the private beach is apart of the cape cod nat seashore [the nat park]...then yes...treasure hunting is arrestable. I know. Its insane. At the least, your equipment will be taken. You would think sadaam hussain was in charge of making the rules.

There are many beaches down there that are not under strict rules. Some local municipalities may ban it during peak hours...but more then likely its allowed. Just make sure its not a state or nat park...an check local laws.

Dont call the town or parks department...return to rule number 1.
