Capajo, scoop

Anyone interested in a commercial version of capajo's fine scoop, (you don't gotta make it) check out this url http://www.dmdetectors.com/883081.html Thanks, Ron.

Hi Ron,

I checked out several different scoops of a similar design before I took on the project of building my own. I started with one 71/2" in diameter reasoning it would only have to scoop once and I could cut down on digging.

It proved to be a bit awkward and a little heavy, but worked very well in dry sand.

The next one is a hair under 5" and works exceptionally well (built it for my wife).

The last one is 51/2" in diameter and perfect for me.

I liked the idea of stainless as I can expect it to last several lifetimes altho I have a friend using a steel mesh scoop he has had for maybe thirty years that is and has been for a long time almost worn out, but still does the job!

The longer handle was important too to keep the old back and legs stress-free!

I generally would rather build than buy as a way to exercise my mechanical and creative skills.

It also allows me to end up with exactly what I want.

Regards,

CJ
