I've been hitting an old park over the last couple weeks that my Dad used to play in. I've been finding some interesting stuff each time (see my last few posts).
Last Friday I was back for a fairly short hunt and actually turned up an 1857 flying eagle cent! Also found an 1890 IH, four wheats, and a 1960 Rosie.
Bryce - out of the four wheats: two more 1918's !
Sunday I went again to another section for about three hours and couldn't believe the amount of older coins I was finding - 26 total Not counting clad!
I think Dad is playing games with me. The 26 consisted of one IH 1902, nineteen wheats including 1911 & 1917, one two cent piece 1864, one V nickel 1893,
one Buffalo 1934, one wartime silver nickel 1945P, and two Mercs 1920 & 1927. It was a good day!
In the same hole with the two cent piece I also found a piece of a clay pipe. My totals so far from this park in five hunts: one flying eagle, one two center,
15 IH's, 52 wheats, one liberty nickel, 2 buffalos, one silver nickel, one barber dime, 4 mercs, one silver rosie, one barber quarter, one British farthing 1931
and a Lucky Lindbergh token.
I've only hit about 25-30% of the total space and I can't wait to see what else might be there. This is the type of park that you hope to find. You know what they say: the harder you work the luckier you get.

Great finds Bruce. I've been hitting the parks like crazy but old coins seem to be running away when they see me coming.LOL! Oh well it's just fun to get out in the nice weather. Sounds like you got a great park there. Keep those finds coming. HH and GL to you.

Nice variety of stuff there Bruce.:clapping: Wouldn't it be nice if we all had an old park like that. Good luck on your next trip back there and HH.

Nice finds with a really long time range. Flying Eagle cents don't show up everyday and neither do two cent pieces. I bet a seated isn't too far off. HH

keep up the good finds ,what an amaze
