Was out last Saturday at the old house next to the shop I work at. I deer hunt behind the shop in a great spot. Had this Buck come out on the first day of November shot gun season. Thought I hit it good but couldn't find it. Looked for him for three days. Was back in the woods detecting next door and came across his carcass. Just knew it was my Buck but to make sure I used my Explorer to find my slug laying right under his ribcage. He went a long way before he expired. Sucks big time but at least I found him. My best buck ever. Gonna do a european mount. Hope you guys dont mind me posting this here.

Looks like the mice cleaned it up for you a little bit, but still a great find !

At least they left the head gear alone. Sucks about wasting the meat though. Did take four others, freezer's full.

I like to find those too  Great hunt for sure lol

Nice white tail!!!!

Losing the meat was a bummer for you but I'm sure some other critters made good on it. Quick thinking to detect your slug. That is definitely a nice shooter  Congrats on the recovery. Personally, I like the Euro-mounts but if you really wanted a full neck mount you could always use the cape of another deer, maybe even a doe.

That is a very nice Buck! It will look terrific as a European mount. Be sure to post pictures later, after you get it done.

Yeah Born I know what you mean. The critters got to eat to. That's what everybodys been telling me. Still hate that I didn't find it when I shot it. I shoot an H&R Ultra Slug Hunter 20g. Will only shoot the Lightfeilds hybrids. No pass thru, even close shots. Going to the Savage 220F for next season. It will shoot a sabot slug in 3". I think I'll have better luck with the blood trail with it, if they do run. The european mounts gonna look great, not looking forward to doing it though. Dont smell to good right now. Oh well, gonna have to deal with it. Thanks guys.

Call around and see if any of your local taxidermist's have Dermestid Beetles. Pretty amazing results.
