Canon EOS 1D Mark II vs Nikon D2H

Interesting article in this months issue of Digital Photography. They do a head to head comparison of the Canon EOS 1D Mark II vs Nikon D2H. Below is a scan of the verdicts. Now first let me state that I'm not trying to start any pissing matches in here. But a while back RM kind of hinted that my love of Canon lenses and cameras may have been a bit misplaced, or at the very least misguided by some clever marketing strategies. It somewhat bothered me as I hate thinking that I may have made some equipment decisions based on bad information. So, after a fair amount of research I have concluded that for sports photography Canon does indeed seem to be a slightly better choice. Now I have absolutely no idea on how the two product lines compare for other types of photography, i.e., portrait, wedding, landscape, macro, etc. But Canon seems to have optimized their upper end cameras for sports photography. Just look at how heavily they spend on advertisements focusing on, and at, sports events. In any case, I just wanted to post my conclusions on my research.

$1500. for major magazines and news media is nothing. For regular folks like you and me.....it's a lot.

That's all I ask is that you show me and us where this happened.
You started this little man.
You really like getting your ass kicked .......

When you start looking at that level of equipment money is not a major issue. If you are in that league, whether as a professional or as a hobbiest, your main concern is performance. And it's not the mega-pixels that make the price difference because the new Canon 20D has the exact same sensor and the whole camera only costs $1500. In any case, I was just trying to point out that head to head the best Canon can hang with the best Nikon. I kind of like to keep the Canon vs Nikon rivalry alive with RM because it gets some good equipment discussions going. Plus, I like giving RM's chain a friendly yank every now and then, it keeps him posting. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

I'm very impressed with its durability. If the other Pro model Nikons are as good then they are built like tanks.
