Cannon Ball???

I picked this up at an estate sale and was told it was a cannon ball. It weighs 11.10 pounds and has a diameter of 6 inches and seems to be made of cast iron. There is also a hard-to-see seem around the center of the ball. Can someone verify and give any other information.

How thick is the metal.?
Civil war cannonballs are thick walled.

Is your 6" dia. Measurement precise.?
Civil war era cannonballs were never a dead to the inch measurement.
A cannon ball of that era would either be 5.68" or 6.25"or 6.84" dia.

Foreign cannonballs I do not know.

Spherical Shot I've dug ran about 24 pounds; case shot more, shell less-and shells I dug were filled with powder.
