Cannon ball pics( before and after)

Sweet. So how deep was it? How did it register on the CZ? As iron bouncing to coin or just iron or what? I suspect that most folks passing over a cannonball would do just that if they weren't digging everything...pass right over it. In years of digging bullets and buttons, I've never gotten one. No doubt passed up a few though.

Hey Mike ,I was stationed in Norfolk (94-97) I was in the Navy my first go around. The ball was about 2 and a half feet down. It gave gave a good solid signal the whole time. I was worried it was a WW2 bomb but when I saw it was rounded I knew it had to be a ball. I am very surprised how well it cleaned up. Electrolysis works!! HH

I would've given up after digging 10". I'd of figured it was a Buick down there and left it there. You definitely had patience to keep digging and got rewarded. Congrats!!

Yeah, same here. In fact, I HAVE been in a major relic area and given up on something that was so deep and so big that I knew it wasn't a bullet, button, or buckle. I guess it never damned on me it could have been a cannonball.

Two and a half FEET??? Dang! :goodnight:
