canadian shipping.

Hi
I bought a tesoro tejon from a member here and it was shipped on the 1st of july.
I live in East Rochester NY
I have not recieved it yet.
Is this typical for across the border shipping.?
He sent me a tracking number but it never left canada according to the tracking number?
thanks for any help/

not unusual at all, stuff crossing the border even expedited service can take up to 15 business days(you cannot count weekends) plus july 4th was a holiday, no mail service . the tracking number will only show it entering the black hole of cross border shipping and will only start to track again when it is out for delivery on your end. you can also track the same canadian tracking number through the USPS web site.

Hi Jeff,

There is definitely a problem here. I spoke with someone from Canada Post and she said that she confirmed that it is late. No revelation there, as we both know it's late. She started a case file and said someone will call back as soon as they figure out what happened. I've never had this happen, and I hope that David hangs in there for a few more days. If I don't hear anything within a day or two, I will call back with the case number until I find out what's happened. If it has vanished, I will refund the money and chase down the insurance for reimbursement. I'm sure that will go well.

Thanks, David for your patience, and again I apologize for this mess.

Dan

Thanks.
Still hoping that it will come,
I will wait and see what happens and thanks
for the words that give me confidence that this will be resolved.

I am sure it will be fine did you trace the number through the USPS web page to see if it had more info? Should be there this week at the latest

Hi Jeff,

Yes, I checked USPS and it didn't tell me any more than Canada Post. Thanks for that tip though. I didn't know that.

Dan

USPS sajust says that it was accepted in canada.
However canadapost said on 6/30 it was in Windsor and on 7/3 it was in mississauga .ont.
That is the last info we have on it's whereabouts.
No more info.

I checked with the local post office here in East Rochester NY and again this morning and they said it never entered the country.

The clerk told me it usually takes six to twelve days to get a package from the Canadian side.

Just waiting for Dan B to decide what he is going to do about the situation. If I get my money back soon I will just buy as silver Umax.

I think I am losing it.
I don't have a detector right now and I thought I heard that ping when the coil passes over a coin.
sounded like it came from the next room.
OH Well.

Hi David,

I will hear from the Canada Post investigator by tomorrow I have been told. If he says "yeah we found it and sent it on it's way", then all should be good. Anything else, as in "there's a 60 day waiting period before we consider it lost" will trigger an immediate refund to you. All I ask is that if it does eventually show up you either pay for it then or send it back.

The bottom line is that your money is not at risk here. You will either get the detector or get a refund. Don't worry about that. We should have some resolution by the weekend.

Thanks for your patience, and again I apologize for this huge hassle.

Dan

No apology necessary, it's just that the both of us are hurt on one transaction.
If I get the refund and then it shows up I will let you know immediately.
It is just too bad this had to happen.
I have over 150 transactions and never an incident like this.
goodluck!

its a normal occurrence,it takes longer to send a package or letter to the US from Canada than it is from the US to Canada. You will get it,usually 2 weeks minimum.

I was contacted by the Canadian inspector and he wanted me to give it one more week.
He said it was in US customs and my USPS office told me it never entered the US.
I am happy to say that while I was out installing a couple of Fluorescent lights in my sons garage,
USPS dropped the Tesoro off. The package looked undamaged and I was so excited I had to come in and
email Dan right away.
I was really worried and now glad for both of us.
I have heard some horror stories about across the border transactions and Dan gave me confidence that regardless
of what happened my transaction with him was safe.
Thankyou Dan.
David F

Hopefully no one was scared off from buying from or selling to Canada. For future reference, just remember that the border issues will add a week or two to the delivery. With this successful closure, I can still say that I have had 100% success selling to and buying from the US.

Good luck David with your new Tejon, and welcome to the Tesoro family.

Walt, I think David is going to faint when he hears yours arrived in 5 days! Like they say, "all's well that end's well"!

Thanks to both of you for buying these machines from me, and I hope you both have great success with them.

I ship up to Canada often, usually takes about 3 days to get to Canada from Georgia. Then anywhere from another 5-15 Canada Postal working days to arrive to their destination, providing the parcel doesn't get hung up in Canadian Customs as they try to figure out if some sort of GST, duties need to be paid.....

My wife sends me a letter from North Bay Ontario, Canada to Georgia on Thursday and it arrives on Monday. When I send a letter to my parents in NY,from Georgia, it usually arrives on the 7th day. I can send a letter to California and it takes 4 days......
