Canadian laws????

CT130

New member
Hello to all I am very new to this, what I call a sport, but ok to what ever it shall be.
What I would like to know is...

Are there any kind of laws pertaining to Metal Detecting in Canada, and if so where would you look to find such laws?
I have 2 kinds of ethics for searching thats cool, but is it ok to go out in areas that belong to the town or city?

Help me out.
Thanks CT130

Most towns in Canada do not have problems metal detecting on public or city property. Of course historical sites that are marked and private property without permission is a no go. If in doubt call the parks dept or city hall and ask. Be sure you get the "person in charge" and not some desk jockey who does not know.

Each province has its own laws, with Nova Scotia and Alberta having the toughest laws. PEI is presently looking at writing up an Antiquities Act, and will probably follow suit of Nova Scotia.
