Wonder what they left behind after it was all over.
Here is a glimpse of the Muskoka G8 summit from a residents perspective:

Hi

Hi,
I've put together a photo album of our view of the G8 from across the bay from Deerhurst Resort. We had a great view of all the action, and had the pleasure of having a surveillance post on our property. We had 7 young men and one woman from the Royal Canadian Dragoons.....an armed Reconnaissance Patrol, with us for a week.....along with their 2 coyotes (mini-tanks with radar, heat sensors, night vision, machine guns, and grenade launchers) and their cameras and radar positioned on our dock. You'll see their gear up-close-and personal in these photos.
I've also got shots of the changes to the roads, a few pics of town, the variety of boats on the lake and aircraft in the sky.
Hope you enjoy it, especially if you were not here for the excitement. Just click on "Play Slideshow" below to see the photos (it's about a 12 minute show) and increase the number of seconds per photo to 7 seconds by clicking on the "plus" (+) sign if you want to be able to read the caption and see the photo.
Then click "Esc" on your keyboard to stop it. (Esc is in the top left corner of your keyboard)
It was a lot of fun, and George and I consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have gotten to know some our young people in the Armed Forces. It make us all the more proud to be Canadian!
Happy Canada Day!
Diane
