Hi all,
Just letting you in on what has been going on here North of the border.
We have a Federal election on the 23rd of Jan. which was brought on by a non-confidence vote last November. The Liberal party has been in power since 1993 here and in that time has really messed us up.
Last year they legalized same sex marriage, including re-defining marriage in the Cdn constitution.
In 1999 they introduced a national gun registry which was supposed to cost only $2million, but as of today is approaching $2Billion! This was done as a PR move to buy votes in the election that year. Since then gun crimes have gone up and in Toronto this past year they have had more gun related murders than in the last 10 years.
They have been caught in a scandal in which liberal party members were receiving cash kick-backs for awarding contracts to certain Quebec companies. Some members were receiving $50,000 cash in envelopes per contract! No one has gone to jail for it yet, or even lost their seat in Parliament. Our current prime minister, Paul Martin, was the Minister of Finance for the country the time it happened! And he is running for office again! This is just a very small sample of what has been going on.
Anyway, it hasn't even been a year since they railroaded the gay marriage legislation through and today, front page news in the papers is a Federal study (paid for with my tax money) says we should now legalize polygamy!
Ahhhhh, the can of worms that they opened cannot be closed. Many opponents at the time said this would happen. "Relative morality" has no limits but the climate of the day.
Thankfully, the Conservative party is leading the polls for the upcomming election and will try and bring some civility back to Ottawa.
Pray for us, we need it.
