Brethren of the coil. The year 2015 saw our rank and file swell as our global community expanded. As members of this universal fraternity it is our sworn duty to welcome, support and educate newbies to the nuances of evolving into a full fledged digaholic. Let not pride, prejudice nor our preconceived notions bar us from this quest.

Take a moment to consider the ramifications of not adhering to this principle. Chaos. Utter chaos! Neanderthal newbies foraging federally protected sites, digging up private property without consent; leaving holes with no remorse. The neophytes of our great past time must be nurtured, no indoctrinated to the code of ethics least we all suffer the consequences.

For the veterans let this be a year of revitalization of the kindred spirit of the young boy seeking that buried pirate treasure. A year of reuniting with friends, hunting buddies and local clubs. A year of reciprocation. Giving back to this great hobby that has touched each and every one of it's practitioners in a positive light. God protect and give us guidance in this life long pursuit.

HI Leslie, You're absolutely correct. It's up to us to educate the 'newbies' concerning the hobby. For several years I had a website dedicated to precisely that but because of inaction I elected to close the site and begin again late possibly in a much different way. I thought of contact the city parks department offering to educate all the new comers so as to save the city parks from unusual or uneducated digs.

Good sound advice to help the newbies understand the rules of :detecting: so more sites will stay open for the hobby! Because of those who are careless or just think about themselves many camping site on rivers and private land has been closed to what we had as freedom! May more people care about what they do and where they go to preserve more areas to have fun in and for those who like this hobby of coin and relic hunting! A few bad apples spoil the whole barrel or get places closed to what could have been detecting areas for many! May God Bless and be with you all for good places to hunt and lots of good finds! Amen! Ma
