The drive to our 1000 acres was a pleasant affair with very little traffic to deal with. The field on the other hand was like going through no man's land after a week of steady rain.
Good targets were sparse with the first find of the day was my only coin..... a modern copper which was followed by a buckle and a bag seal of sorts with a very faded legend.
Boots soon became 10 pound blocks as the mud accumulated on our boots while a strong wind made going one direction easy and the other not so easy.
On the far side of the old foundation ND gave the sign. Didn't hear him at first.....must be a wind thing or an old age thing or had my headphones on thing. Bleeding brilliant. Navy Davy had dug a 1784 silver Spanish coin of Carolos 111 which was minted in Mexico.....his only find of the day and a super one it was.
Both of us ended the day full of mud and knackered. Once the field dries out I'm sure ND and I will return to this part of our fields but for now....................we'll see!
