From the land of the Bluenose.....0410hrs.......0419hrs.....0432hrs! Even on my day off the internal alarm clock could not be silenced so I surrendered and crawled out of bed carefully so as not to wake "Sleeping Beauty" who didn't have to get up for a while and was busy sawing logs at an oh so grand rate.
Watched the news while at the same time racking me brain trying to figure out where in the halibut to take a pair of newbies, Jack and Michael out to get christened into the art of pilaging and plundering. Urgh matey there be loot to dig up out there! What's with the pirate jargon you ask? Well Jack's last name happens to be Sparrow and I kid you not me son!
Had thought about asking my car pool buddy Wayne if he would care to join us but had strong reservations about that as I'm sure that every time I would have bent down and dug a hole that he would pull out a putter and try and sink a ball into it being the avid golfer that he is.
Meet time with the pirates was for 0745hrs at Robin's in Dartmouth which left me plenty of time to take Marie out for a quick light breakfast at Tim's, a quick kiss before quickly heading for the rendez-vous. Things a bouy does to get Otto for the day. Still had plenty of time in Dartmouth so I stopped at the Five Corner's Pond and watched the "honkizoids" doing their thing. Man would I love to cook their goose with some parsnips, onions and baked potatoes...well one can dream!

Fellows showed up right on time and we headed to a local park that had water frontage so that I could swish and each of the newbies could swing one of my Freedom 3s. After a brief lesson in their operation and the code of ethics along with how to dig a proper plug I let them loose as I hit the water.

"Dad. Dad. I got one!" Lord love a duck I could hear Mike call out even with my headphones on as he proudly raised his first detecting find....a penny like it was a Spanish 8 reale! Of course dad was busy digging a hole to China and finally pulled out his first copper

while all I could swish up was a silver puzzle ring and a Chineese pendent which paled in comparison to their finds. Got to love this hobby!
After an hour we hit another such park and continued where we left off.

Day was coming to an end and we hit a playing field close to the Sparrow's residence where Mike headed out and Captain Sparrow and I continued to plunder. Found a neat moose on the loose Newfie key chain while Jack perfected his pinpointing. Day ended too soon as I had to pick up the boss...no not Bruce Springstien the real boss and then hump my sorry butt over to the ball field where we got royally trounced. Went 5 for 6 but that was small conciliation for the knock about.
Take for the pirates of Cole Harbour was about 30 coins between the two sea faring masters of skulduggery while I settled for a Chineese pendent, a silver puzzle ring which this fool can't get together (have to get some 5 year old for that me son), Newfie key chain, a cross, dewy and 74 coins @$9.38

Parting I told Jack that he could use the Garrett until his Ace 250 comes in along with mine and 4 others at work. One of the GTI fellows has a home business and has ordered them in. Got a good tax break as one of the 4 is First nation which means I'll get to detect with him in the badlands!
