Spent the day on one of my permissions with Navy Davy. Long haul for these 2 old timers. ND managed 4 buttons which he will post whilst I this lot.

Navy Davy whose eye sight is much better than mine noticed that one of the large coppers had a crest containing 3 fleur-de lies and a reverse with a bust facing left. Think it's French and has a crown above the crest. Any thoughts?

Hi Leslie, my husband and I have been finding some coins that are corroded and I just mostly keep working it under water. I also keep it wet to look at it (not dripping, but I wet it and keep spreading it around with my thumb. I also find that in can pick up more if I hold it at an angle in natural daylight as opposed to overhead indoor lights or flashlights (also while wet). A coin I posted last week had three letters showing on it and by doing the above (I also used olive oil to keep it “wet” looking for the light to hit) I managed to get all the words on one side and a few on the back, which made me able to post for help to identify it on this forum. Hope this makes sense!
