:canadaflag:AT Pro learning curve a tad straighter

From the land of the Bluenose.....took my AT Pro International for her second test drive on a rare day not filled with rain. Hit a local field and tried the various settings and finally settled on the standard mode at zero.

Found the machine stable at this setting and very good at picking up deep coins in the 8 to 10 inch range. Had plowed this field numerous times with the Freedom 3 Plus. Pennies rang up good as did loonies and twoonies but dimes and quarters were not to be done. Tried an air test and the machine still would not pick them up at any level.....need help there. Did get one dime and I suspect that it was becaose it was a 1968 one which is half silver which rang up at 82 on that display dewie. The quarter was laying on the surface I eyeballed!

Will it replace my half working Freedom 3 Pluses.....not at this stage.

Duration of dig was 1hr10
Coins found 14 @$4.52
AT Pro bloody muddy
AT Pro finds needed to pay for itself and water head phones $706.38

On another note got to going around a few goodies that Maw had left me which included this. Don't now much about it other then it was her father's medal.

I hunt in Pro Mode and run that iron disk up to about 30. If there's not too many targets, I run with the iron audio on, otherwise I leave it off. The newer nickels, dimes and quarters often times give a squelch sound, with the VDI numbers switching back and forth between a low number in the 40's to a high number in the 70's to 80's. This machine is especially hot on our clad dimes. I have picked up many of them missed by other guys with their machines, even by myself. Common pulltabs read around 65. Our older nickel nickels read as a nice stable 55, where a nice gold ring might show up too. The AT Pro bangs hard on holed objects such as rings and round pulltabs..

Using this machine is my first opportunity to use a VDI (expanded) system combined with an excellent audio system. Go hunt some busy sports fields in Pro Mode and experiment with yourself and the Pro. If you are the type to dig most iffy signals, this machine will increase your finds considerably. It truly is a Great invention and water proof too.

Hope Johns input helps you bluenoser. US clad quarters really get me excited with a vdi of 87 86, clad and silver dimes allways 82 81 . Hang in there something is strange. Doesnt make since picking up some coins 8 to 10 inchs and a failure on the other.

Hunted a soccer field had a solid 88 out pops a1964 silver quarter.
Like John our crappy dimes and quarters will ring all over usually into the lower 80s
The dimes are a real crappy junk signals bouncing around.
Unfortunately bottle caps closely imitate the coins but the iron roll betrays them.
I hunt in PRO mode and zero.

Run it at Pro mode (Std is for newbies and girls), zero disc, 35 or so on the iron disc, Iron audio Off , and Sens. wherever it runs stable for you. Test run a few coins of different denominations before each hunt so you are reminded of what each sounds like. I'm sure you didn't start out getting quota when you first started using those old FA 3's either. There is a learning curve, you're just at the beginning of it!! Soon you'll be making quota easily and the FA 3's will be spending a lot of time in the backseat as backups.
