My Princess and I have been on the move lately, we flew out of Toronto, Canada to Rio de Janiero on Dec 17th, then we hopped a cruise ship to Antarctica and it eventually dropped us off in Buenos Aires, Argentina which we enjoyed until a couple of days ago when we hopped a flight to Santiago, Chile. It's been a lot of fun so far and we hope that the trip continues to expand our horizons. Here's some pics of the trip - Antarctica was Spectacular.

I would have thought that they would have been deactivated by now.

Have a great round the world jaunt buddy.

At least you are missing one of the worst winters seen as of late.

Calm seas

The Argentinians planted thousands of the plastic mines that are extremely hard to detect, so even though the Brits have been working away to detect these mines for years there are still plenty out there just waiting to blow up the unsuspecting. We passed a field about 10 acres in size that the Brits had cleared the previous year, the largest was an anti-tank mine and they detected it 9 feet below the surface (it sank that deep over time because of the sandy soils). It took them a whole year to clear 10 acres.:yikes:
Many areas of the island are still fenced off with notices like this one, which we saw at a penguin rookery.

Here's the beach below where landmines continue to wash ashore after heavy storms.

Fair Winds and Calm Seas,

Eric

PS You would have loved the crossing of the Drake Passage, Mike. Really rough and most of the passengers green to the gills, we loved it. We also ran into this group of crazy Argentinians in the middle of Iceberg Alley, what a rush it must have been to cross the drake in that little boat.

Thanks for letting us "tag along" Eric.

Great pictures!

Some of the Pacific North-West storms can be extremely rough I hear.

I prefer feet on tera firma myself.

Regards and best wishes for safe travels,

CJ
