Can you tell me what this is?

Would make sense since the name of the establishment is on the back and where it was located and the $1.00 / 2 on the front could be for possibly a room or something costing $1.00 a night to stay there. Just a thought. Do you know if the town you were in had this as an establishment? If not, I would see if you can't find a Library or someone with a Centennial Book for that town and see if it isn't listed. Then you would have an idea where it came from, how old it is, and what it was used for. Also, if the town you found it at doesn't have that type of Street (W4ST-West 4th Street), I would then check around and see if any neighboring towns do since then you could find a book for that town and then possibly figure out what it is. Hope this helps and Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing. Hope to see you found some info and keep us posted.

I found this here in my small town in central Iowa. This is not an address for any town in my county. I have looked into my centenial books and have found nothing. I am thinking that this is the name of a person not an establishment. I am prettty sure it is a address. It is the size of a quarter. I can't tie this name inot anything local. My town does not even have any streets with numbers just names. I am thinking perhaps the numbers mean 1/2 dollar. The front looks like it was machine made but the back looks to be hand stamped lettering. I found this in an area about the same depth as I found a couple trade tokens from 1895 for the local store though.

HH,

Dave

It's a long shot but there is a hotel in Reno, Nevada called the Crest Inn that carries that address. I couldn't find any additional info on the hotel though.

Dave,

I found several towns in Iowa with that address. Note that Iowa census records list a "Roy Tharp" in Black Hawk around 1911. You can cut & paste the addres below into your browser. Maybe someone you know has a subscription to Ancestry.com and could find more?

Dave,

Here's one more address in Black Hawk that might be worth checking out:

525 4th St, La Porte City, Black Hawk, IA 50651

According to Ancestry.com, there were (and maybe still are) quite a few Tharps in Black Hawk County. The link below will take you to Ancestry's search page. I typed in the last name only and Black Hawk, Iowa.

Interesting find!
I also live in central Iowa. If you ever want to go out some time let me know.
Thanks,
Dave

:smoke:That's a cat house token for a electric vibrating bed.At the cat house you pay a $1.00 fee for room 2 and you can use the token in the vibrating bed.Come on you old Navy guy's, you know what that is!.

Looks to me that it's a good for token from Roy Tharp at 525 West 4th Street. Although I've never seen one before where (it appears anyway) the amount on the reverse has been divided by 2 (that would make it a 50 cent token wouldn't it?). Anyway, it's a nice find.
