Can you help identifying this?

Ed in Mo

I could use some help identifying this coin/token. This is the best photo I can get by scanning it. The front and back are both identical, only the "5c" is on both sides. It has no writing or date on it at all and seems to be copper like a penny. It is the same size as a nickle but much thinner. I am thinking it is maybe just a token but why no store name? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and happy hunting to all, Ed

Hi Ed. Think this is no really helpful, but think it can be some kind of old toy money. For a token it will make no sense not to have the brand/shop name on it.

I also have found several "play" coins, and they are always
about the same size diameter as the real coins they represent,
but are a lot thinner. Good find, as most play coins are now plastic.

I thank you all for your help. I am thinking it might be a carnival token or ride token. It was found at a old picnic/fair grounds that has had event there since 1864. I will say I have had some really great finds there but nothing like this before. Silver still comes out of the ground there and if you don't have a 5" coil...stay at home. It was just interesting and thought I would share it. I read here a lot but don't talk or share much anymore...but I will say this, I think the CZ-3d is the best thing around with lowest learning curve and the beep and dig..takes the guess work out for me. I used a digital machine for a few years and a reading of 82 at one depth and 75 at another..or 68 if it is deeper...shoot, almost gave up detecting. Talking about digging junk! After about 20 years of detecting I can honestly say it has put fun back into my hobby. I don't get the 12" on a dime stuff like others say, (9" on a dime here), and it is not the right serial number as most talk about but it is a great machine. I have still yet to find someone that will tune mine like that then I would be in heaven, but for now I am taking my time and finding some really good stuff. Silver rings just seem to keep popping out of the ground as well. Not much gold to brag about but in time. And yes, I run in enhanced mode always and 0 discrimination as well. Happy hunting to all and just enjoy the time out of doors, the fresh air, exercise and the thoughts of of what you will dig next.

Howdy Ed!

It might have come from some sort of game. I found one identical to it here in Wisconsin! fun stuff to pop out of the ground!
